Effective September 2026. WatchTimegrapher is a free tool. This policy explains exactly what does and doesn't happen to your microphone audio.
When you click "Start Listening," your browser's own getUserMedia API captures audio from your microphone. That audio is processed through a chain of standard Web Audio API nodes (a high-pass filter, an analyser for the live meter, and an AudioWorklet that streams samples to the page's own JavaScript) entirely inside your browser tab, and the resulting tick-timing analysis is computed locally. There is no upload step — this site has no server-side audio processing and no audio storage of any kind. The captured audio and the analysis results exist only in your browser tab's memory and disappear when you close or refresh the page.
Loading this page causes your browser to make standard network requests for the HTML/CSS/JavaScript files that make up the site itself. There are no third-party libraries loaded from external CDNs for the audio analysis on this particular tool — the signal-processing code ships as part of the site's own files. At no point does your microphone audio, or anything derived from it, get sent anywhere as a network request.
This site uses standard, anonymous Google Analytics (page views, referrer, country, browser type) and Microsoft Clarity (anonymized heatmaps and session recordings of on-page interactions, used to spot broken UI, not to identify you) to understand overall usage. This site also shows ads served by a third-party advertising network, which may set its own cookies or use similar technology to serve relevant ads — we don't control what that network does with that beyond serving ads on this site; see that network's own privacy policy for details. We don't add any other ad pixels or cross-site tracking ourselves.
There are no accounts, no sign-up, and no personal data collection for the free tool. If you buy the optional Pro upgrade (the session log/CSV export), Stripe (our payment processor) collects your email and payment details to process the purchase — we never see or store your card number. We store your email and purchase record so you can restore Pro on another device later (via a 6-digit code sent to that email, no password). That's the only personal data this site ever holds, and it's never sold or shared beyond what's needed to process your purchase. Your microphone audio itself is never part of this — it's never uploaded, with or without Pro, and the session log only ever stores the numeric rate/beat-error results you already see on screen, kept in your browser tab's memory, never sent anywhere.
